Area
Lanzarote is the most easterly of the Canary Islands, with its
coasts at only 100Km from Western Africa, on the same latitude as
the Bahamas and Florida. Lanzarote is known as the Volcanoes Island
and has no less than 300 craters and stunning scenery.
Playa Blanca is the most southerly resort on Lanzarote. It has
a relaxed atmosphere compared with the more upbeat nightlife in
Puerto del Carmen and is probably the best family resort on the
island. From the seafront you can see across to Fuerteventura, 11
Km by ferry which crosses to the island several times a day from the main harbour.
The climate is very mild. The average monthly temperature ranges
from 18 C in winter to 23 C during the summer. The sea temperature
being only a few degrees less. The annual rainfall is just 140mm.
This makes Lanzarote the perfect year round destination.
